Football Federation Australia (FFA) chairman Frank Lowy has called on FIFA to strip Australia of the right to host the 2022 World Cup.Qatar. The reason is because there was too much controversy and suspicion of fraud surrounding the vote that took place last December.

Mr. Lowy (81 years old), who was re-elected as FFA president two days ago, has declared that he will oppose the move to the end.Qatarwas chosen to host the world's biggest football tournament. In an interview with AFP on November 28, Mr. Lowy said: "The press around the world is talking about the vote every day and every hour.Qatarhosting the 2022 World Cup, I think the FIFA Executive Committee must rethink".

SinceQatarsurprisingly beat the US to win the right to host the 2022 World Cup a year ago, the world press continuously exposed information showing that the vote had signs of fraud and corruption. Faced with that situation, many world football officials spoke up to ask FIFA to investigate. Not long ago, the president of the German Football Federation (DFB) Theo Zwanziger requested to review the hosting rights ofQatar.

Such pressure has made FIFA unable to sit still, recently FIFA president Sepp Blatter confirmed that he would open an investigation into this. He said: "We will review all complaints, but everything must be based on reasonable evidence. For now, we will not touch on the organization of the 2022 World Cup ofQatar”.
