Despite Russia's veto of the establishment of an international tribunal to try the crash of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 in eastern Ukraine in July 2014, Ukraine and the Netherlands have said they have not given up and still want to bring this tragic accident to trial.

According to the German newspaper Handelsblatt on July 31, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had a phone call with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, in which the two leaders agreed that the two governments would continue to seek feasible measures to bring the plane crash to trial in an international court.

Earlier, at a vote of the United Nations Security Council on July 29, Russia used its veto power to reject the initiative to establish an international tribunal to try this accident.

Flight MH17 crashed in the Donbass war zone (Eastern Ukraine), killing all 298 passengers and crew on board, most of whom were Dutch.

After the incident, Ukraine and Russia accused each other of causing this tragedy./.
