Ukraine says it hopes to improve ties with the US after Trump impeachment ends
Ukraine's foreign minister said his country wants to return to strengthening relations with the United States after the impeachment inquiry into President Trump is over.
After the impeachment proceedings against President Trump ended, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko told reporters at the United Nations that he would travel to Washington on February 21 to meet with officials in the Trump administration to "advance" the relationship between the two countries.

"We will discuss ways to move forward with a relationship that is not hampered by any impeachment inquiry. The relationship is in a very good state but we want more," Prystaiko said.
Ukraine's top diplomat also asserted that Kiev was constantly dragged into internal US political issues during the impeachment inquiry and now he hopes that the relationship between the two countries can improve: "We are happy that the impeachment is over because before that, we were constantly dragged into US political issues that we did not want and would never be a part of."
The impeachment inquiry into President Trump revolves around a phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky on July 25. Accordingly, the Democratic Party accused the US leader of withholding $391 million in military aid to Ukraine to pressure Kiev to investigate his political rival, former Vice President Joe Biden - the leading candidate of the Democratic Party in the 2020 White House race.
