Ukraine stops transit of Russian gas to EU
(Baonghean.vn) - On May 10, Ukraine's gas transmission system operator GTSOU announced that it would temporarily suspend the transportation of Russian gas to Europe via the Sochranovka station on the morning of May 11.
About 1/3 of the volumegasRussian cargoes destined for Europe pass through Sochranovka and divert part of their exports. Deliveries via Sochranovka will be suspended from 07:00 (local time) on May 11. The Ukrainian side cited complications caused by the fighting in Ukraine as the reason.

GTSOU said it had repeatedly informed Russia's Gazprom about the threat posed by military activity in the area. According to GTSOU, the current situation makes gas deliveries via the Sochranovka metering station and the Novopskov compressor station located in the occupied territories impossible.
Novopskov is the first compressor station in the Luhansk region. It is a transit route for about 32.6 million cubic meters of gas per day, which corresponds to almost one-third of the total volume of Russian gas transported through Ukraine to Europe.
According to Russian media, Gazprom stated that there was no real reason to interrupt the transmission of Russian gas through the Sochranovka station.
On the same day, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that the government had approved the seizure of Russian assets in Ukraine.
On Telegram, Mr. Shmyhal stated that the Cabinet approved a document according to which Russian assets in Ukraine were transferred to the state, or rather to the "National Investment Fund".
The Russian assets will be placed under the control of the Ukrainian National Investment Fund and will be used to strengthen the Ukrainian military, support the population and rebuild infrastructure, the official said. The Ukrainian government is working with other countries to seize Russian assets abroad and use them for Ukraine’s post-conflict recovery, he added.
In April, Shmyhal said Kiev was seeking to seize Russian assets to finance Ukraine’s post-conflict recovery. According to Shmyhal, Russian government and oligarch funds will be one of the main sources to fill Ukraine’s National Reconstruction Fund./.
