Ukraine ignores US advice to stop attacking Russia
(Baonghean.vn) - The Economist magazine (USA) said that Kiev is ignoring Washington's recommendations to stop shelling Russian infrastructure.
RIA Novosti quoted the Economist magazine as saying that the White House is not satisfied and is trying to persuade Ukraine to stop attacks on Russian energy infrastructure. However, so far, Ukraine has ignored the US warning.
The US considers the attacks on Russian oil refineries to be reckless and to risk raising energy prices, while Ukraine believes that this is necessary. Instead of accepting the US proposal, Ukraine has intensified its attacks on a series of Russian oil and gas facilities, including an April 2 attack on Russia's third-largest oil refinery, Taneko, located more than 1,000 km from the border.
At the same time, according to the Economist, the new drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can fly more than 3,000 km and is capable of reaching the regions of Siberia.
On Kiev's side, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia had destroyed most of Ukraine's thermal power plants in recent times. He warned of the risk that Russia could attack the infrastructure of Ukraine's nuclear power plants in the near future and asked the West to provide Kiev with more modern air defense systems.
In addition, Ukraine and Russia are also arguing over attacks on the Zaporizhye Power Plant, which Moscow controls.
Russia has repeatedly accused Ukraine of launching artillery, missile and drone attacks on Zaporizhye, as well as repeatedly sending special forces to try to take control of the facility.
