Ukraine to receive $52 million in aid to face the coming winter

During a briefing in Geneva, the official representative of the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Jen Larke announced that the United Nations called on the international community to urgently contribute 52 million USD for humanitarian assistance to Ukraine related to preparations for this year's winter.
"The humanitarian community in Ukraine is urging for $52 million in support to prepare for the upcoming winter. Especially at the beginning of winter, the need for humanitarian assistance and support will increase dramatically" - OCHA representative Jen Larke emphasized.
According to Mr. Jen Larke, the UN's humanitarian assistance plan for Ukraine in 2019 with an amount of about 163 million USD has only been implemented 32%. "Therefore, funding is needed to prepare for winter now, to provide support to those in urgent need" - OCHA representative said.
The situation in Ukraine has become very serious for thousands of civilians in the east of the country. The $52 million international appeal is expected to help 75,000 residents in eastern Ukraine prepare for the coming winter, including renovating their homes and stocking up on fuel.
