New models are coming out in droves, cars are getting massive discounts at the end of the year

The auto market is becoming more vibrant as new car models are being launched from now until the end of the year. Along with that, businesses are also promoting and reducing prices to help consumers have more choices and benefit.

Race to reduce prices to attract customers

To attract customers, many domestically assembled car models are racing to reduce prices sharply. Since mid-August, VinaMazda has sharply reduced the retail price of the Mazda 6 with a 2.0L engine by 126 million VND, down to 998 million VND; the 2.5L engine has a smaller reduction, down 111 million VND to 1.159 billion VND. In September, the Mazda 6 has offered an additional discount of 20 million VND.

A hot selling car model on the market

Although Toyota Vietnam has not reduced the selling price of Camry, dealers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have quietly reduced the price by 20-45 million VND, depending on the version. For example, Toyota Thanh Xuan dealer (Hanoi) committed to directly reducing customers by 40-45 million VND when making a deposit to buy a car. Toyota My Dinh dealer (Hanoi) reduced from 20-30 million VND/car or more if customers directly negotiate further. Toyota Long Bien (Hanoi) also offered a discount of 30-35 million VND depending on the time customers made a deposit and received the car. Perhaps the launch of the domestic Mazda 6 version, the price reduction has created competitive pressure, forcing Toyota dealers to reduce accordingly.

In addition to the two models above, in September, a series of other models also announced price reductions. Thaco Kia reduced prices on most major models such as Morning, K3, Cerato, Sorento by 2 to 15 million VND. Customers buying Mazda cars from VinaMazda received price incentives, 1 year of physical insurance and other gifts such as service vouchers, high-end accessories. The total incentives for the highest models were up to 45 million VND (CX-5), the lower were Mazda 2S, Mazda 3 with 12-15 million VND. This move was made to stimulate market demand before officially entering the peak period at the end of the year.

Similarly, since August, Ford Vietnam has decided to reduce the prices of two small car models, Focus and Fiesta, by 5 to 50 million VND.

Sell ​​new models

Car consumption in August decreased slightly compared to July 2014, but this is still the 17th consecutive month that the industry's sales have been higher than the same period last year.

According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), in August 2014, the total market sales reached 12,562 vehicles, down 0.4% compared to July 2014 but up 59% compared to August 2013. Because August has more than 3 weeks overlapping with the 7th lunar month, which is the ghost month, customers often avoid buying cars, so some businesses have seen a decrease in sales, although the decrease is not significant.

Meanwhile, to welcome the year-end business season, many car companies have launched a series of new car models.

On September 7, BMW representative in Vietnam launched the X4 model, belonging to the mid-range off-road sports Coupe segment. This is a model with a very strong and powerful exterior, similar to the BMW X6 which is very popular in Vietnam. The BMW X4 will be a "formidable" competitor of the Audi Q5.

On September 9, the new 4th generation Honda City compact sedan was officially launched in Vietnam with prices ranging from 552-599 million VND, with many changes in exterior, looking sportier and larger than before. Honda City will be a big competitor of Toyota Vios, Hyundai Accent, Ford Fiesta...

In September, consumers are also waiting for the launch of the new generation Toyota Corolla Altis, a mid-size sedan, which is almost completely different from the old versions. Altis 2014 is a competitor of Honda Civic and Ford Focus.

In addition, Mitsubishi also said it will import the Outlender Sport to Vietnam at the end of this year. This model is also part of Vinastar's new business strategy in Vietnam. Outlender Sport will compete directly with Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5.
