Application of energy saving technology in medical facilities

Implementing energy saving solutions, the hospital has converted the entire incandescent light bulb system to LED bulbs, making the most of natural light sources. Each department and room has its own meter installed for convenient management and monitoring of electricity usage.

In addition to encouragement, we put the electricity saving regulations into the competition between departments, offices, and divisions. Departments and divisions always have meters to support and compete. Departments and divisions are responsible for managing the monthly electricity consumption of their departments and divisions according to the electricity meters hanging in their departments and divisions.

At Vinh International Hospital, not only is the design taking advantage of natural light sources, but all lighting switches are separated to limit simultaneous on; the elevator system is also intelligently installed to avoid long waiting between floors. Total electricity consumption is controlled and compared monthly. According to the leader of Vinh International Hospital, the unit regularly has electricity saving solutions and monitors electricity consumption monthly, quarterly and yearly. Through monitoring and comparison of the last 2 consecutive years, the amount of electricity consumed has clearly decreased by 5-10%/year.

Vinh City currently has dozens of medical facilities in operation. Due to the nature of the profession, the power consumption for the machinery and equipment systems of some departments in medical facilities must be guaranteed 24/24h. To meet the increasing demand for quality of treatment services, many medical facilities have tried to invest in facilities and medical equipment, especially equipping air conditioners for all examination and treatment areas.
During the peak hot season, electricity consumption at medical facilities increases. The leader of Vinh City Electricity said that every year the unit works directly with medical facilities to advise, propagate, and inspect the reality. For equipment that is not synchronized, not used properly, or equipment that consumes a lot of electricity, the electricity company advises the use of equipment that is notenergy saving, make good use of natural light and ventilation.

In fact, many medical facilities are currently using old-generation air conditioners that do not use energy-saving technology. The cooling capacity of current air conditioners is not enough to meet the air conditioning needs of hospital rooms, forcing patients to turn on the air conditioner while opening the windows. This situation not only wastes energy for the air conditioning system but also does not help provide fresh air for patients. Therefore, investing in technological innovation for air conditioning systems in medical facilities is considered a necessary solution to save energy, save costs and contribute to improving the green, clean air environment in hospitals.
