Applying science and technology to improve production and business efficiency

(Baonghean.vn) - On June 21, the Farmers' Association and the Department of Science and Technology of Nghe An province held a conference to review the program of coordination in supporting the application and transfer of scientific and technological advances to serve socio-economic development in the province in the period of 2011-2015, and signed a coordination program for the period of 2016-2020.

Leaders of the two units signed a cooperation program to promote propaganda activities and mobilize members and farmers to apply scientific and technological advances in the 2016-2020 period.

In recent times, to improve farmers' knowledge of science and technology to develop production, contribute to the development of agricultural economy and new rural construction, the Department of Science and Technology has coordinated with the Provincial Farmers' Association to organize training courses on applying techniques in agriculture for farmer members in the whole province. On average, each year the two sectors organize from 35 to 40 technical training courses, each class has about 50 - 60 students. The training courses have equipped farmers with knowledge of science and technology to serve agricultural, forestry and fishery production suitable for each locality.

Selected models and programs applying scientific and technological advances have been transferred to farmers to promote high efficiency. A typical example is the program of producing organic microbial fertilizers using Compotst Maker, which is applied by farmers in midland and mountainous districts to produce 15 to 20 thousand tons per year. Program of building biogas tanks; raising pigs using biological mattresses; growing gac fruit, passion fruit, applying technology to rice production on large-scale fields, restoring and developing some traditional industries...

However, there are still many difficulties in the coordination between the two sectors. Investment funds for transferring programs and models are still limited compared to the needs of households.

In the coordination program for the period 2016-2020, the Provincial Farmers' Association and the Department of Science and Technology focus on propagating and mobilizing members and farmers to apply scientific and technological advances, improve the efficiency of production and business activities, develop family economy, and contribute to the industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas.

Accordingly, each year, 2-3 models of applying scientific and technological advances will be built, and 500 people will be trained and transferred to scientific and technological advances. Support farmers in promoting technical innovation initiatives; participating in "Farmers' Technical Innovation Contest", "Farmers' Competition", voting for typical agricultural products, Technology and Equipment Market (Techmart), Connecting Technology Supply and Demand (Techdemo). Encourage and support farmers to form joint ventures and partnerships with domestic and foreign enterprises to develop production according to the value chain to serve sustainable agricultural development in the locality.
