Application of e-commerce in export
The context of the global and domestic economic crisis has caused Vietnamese craft villages to fall into a situation of shrinking consumer markets and a backlog of goods in many places.
- The application of e-commerce for export is becoming a new channel expected to bring high efficiency to bring this product further to the world market.
Realizing the benefits that e-commerce brings, since the year 2000, Hoa Lu Handicraft Company has applied e-commerce to promote the company's products. According to the assessment of the company's representative, the application of e-commerce to product promotion helps businesses grasp rich information about customers and markets, reduce sales and marketing costs. Besides, it also helps businesses significantly reduce transaction time and costs and facilitate the establishment and consolidation of relationships between customers around the world.
Ms. Nguyen Tu Anh, Deputy General Director of Hoa Lu Handicraft Joint Stock Company said, if in the years 2000, 2002, e-commerce was still unfamiliar to many businesses, we boldly invested in a website with full information about the company's operations and scale. Besides, we also participated very actively in e-commerce trading floors such as vatgia.com, chodientu.vn or international trading floors such as Alibaba.com...
“Currently, we are exporting to the Japanese, American and European markets. Recently, through the e-commerce system, we signed a contract worth nearly 8 billion with a customer from Japan. This shows that e-commerce is a lever for our business in particular and for Vietnamese export businesses in general,” Ms. Tu Anh affirmed.
It can be seen that e-commerce application is one of the effective tools for businesses to promote products and seek export orders. However, according to experts, currently not many businesses and craft village associations can take full advantage of the advantages that e-commerce brings.
Therefore, the effectiveness of this sales channel has not really been as expected. The reason is that the information about the goods is still monotonous and not close to the actual product as well as the needs of customers.
Regarding this issue, Mr. Tran Dinh Toan, Deputy General Director of OSB Investment and Technology Joint Stock Company, said that there are currently quite a few websites introducing products of craft villages, but they seem to be very scattered and have introductions that are somewhat poetic in nature, not convincing customers. For buyers, reading historical information is one thing, the important thing is that they want to know where it is, who to look for if I want to buy that product, which business, what is the price, not general like the current websites.
