Nguyen Van Son, 34 years old, was born into a family of 4 siblings, his parents are both simple farmers in Doc Su hamlet, Ky Son commune (Tan Ky). However, unlike his 3 siblings, Son was born with a congenital deformity, with one leg higher than the other.

Overcoming his inferiority complex, the young man was always optimistic and loved life. Every day, Son was taken to school by his friends. His childhood was associated with books and days of herding buffalo and cutting grass with his friends.
