(Baonghean) -Nguyen Thi Cam Linh from Nghi Phu commune excitedly showed off: "I have a new uniform: white shirt, blue skirt, bag, new books, new friends, I am now a student of grade 1A. I must be good at Math, write beautifully to get 10 points, to continue going to school...".

While students from grade 2 are anxiously awaiting the sacred moment of the opening day, for the 47,151 6-year-old children entering grade 1 of 537 primary schools this year, there is an eager anticipation, a bit of shyness mixed with confidence in affirming that they are primary school students.

In the 2011-2012 school year, primary, secondary, high school and vocational education students in Nghe An province returned to school on August 10 and started studying on August 15. More than 44,160 students who completed primary school and entered grade 6 at 415 secondary schools in the province had different feelings. Still unfamiliar and excited, but there was something like waiting for a new environment with new teachers and new friends. Le Thanh Minh, Nam Dan Town shared: "It's not like the feeling on the first day of first grade, wanting to go to class with a new teacher but not wanting to leave my mother's hand. This year, entering the first grade of secondary school, I want to discover more interesting things. I want the whole class to be united, to have teachers who are enthusiastic in teaching and caring for students in their studies and in their lives..."

That is a very understandable desire for the 12 to 16 year olds of secondary school. This is an age group with many dramatic changes in physical, health and psychology. Therefore, in addition to equipping knowledge, life skills education is one of the key tasks that the Education sector focuses on directing strongly in this school year. Students will become familiar with groups of skills: self-awareness skills, communication skills, cooperation and sharing skills, skills to distinguish reasonable and unreasonable behaviors... Teachers teaching students at this age are required not only to be dedicated to their profession but also to be a confidant and spiritual support for them.

The echoes of the ceremony to commend and reward excellent students organized by the Provincial People's Committee left an unforgettable impression on each student. The ceremony wished to connect the tradition of studiousness and good study of the land of Nghe An, encourage the emulation movement to study, train and develop talents in students and contribute to the gratitude of society for the fathers and mothers who work hard to raise their children to become successful; for the teachers who are devoted to their beloved students... The effect of the ceremony has given teachers more confidence to continue to devote their passion and knowledge to the cause of educating people.

Phan Thi Quynh Trang, a 10th grade English major student at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, shared: "Being able to study at a school with a rich tradition like Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted is a source of pride for me and my family. Coming from my hometown to study here, I anticipated the difficulties, but thinking about the examples of my seniors from the countryside who have made Phan School famous and become shining examples is the motivation for me to strive."

Every locality, school, teacher, parent and student has the desire to achieve the best results in the school year. But somewhere there are still simple wishes: to study in houses that are sheltered from wind and rain, to have boarding houses for primary school students so that they do not have to work hard to cross streams and mountains to get to school...

During this school year, the province has put into use 1,052 new classrooms (240 for kindergarten, 271 for primary school, 225 for secondary school, 286 for high school) and 108 rooms for teachers' official residence. However, there are still 1,052 temporary classrooms and borrowed classrooms. The Board of Directors and parents of Nghi Thiet Primary School are eager to have a boarding school for the children. Because the school has nearly 200 students living far from home, they have to walk more than 5 km to school twice a day, including nearly 100 students from Bac Thinh and Nam Thinh hamlets where the roads are difficult to travel on, most of their parents have to work far away, they live with their grandparents or older siblings, so meals are not delivered to them regularly, and they mostly have to travel back and forth by themselves.

The wishes of students, parents, teachers and society from the first day of school may be different in different regions. However, they all look forward to a new school year with the most essential things - teaching and learning with an open-minded attitude, responsibility and love.
