On May 9, K. was still being monitored and receiving intensive care at a hospital in Vinh city.
According to VDK’s family: At the end of April, he had a high fever for 4 consecutive days. To treat him, his family gave him fever-reducing medicine and traditional medicine.
After 3 days of taking the medicine prescribed by the herbalist, the child showed signs of drowsiness, restlessness, and vomiting. The family took the child to the local hospital, then transferred him to the provincial hospital on May 1.

When admitted to the hospital, VDK was in a coma, had difficulty breathing, had a high fever of over 39 degrees, an enlarged liver, yellow skin, and dark brown gastric juice. After examination, doctors diagnosed him with multiple organ failure, with a high risk of death...
To save VDK, doctors placed an endotracheal tube on a ventilator, used antibiotics and vasopressor drugs, performed continuous blood filtration and intensive resuscitation.
After 72 hours of dialysis, VDK was awake, vital signs were stable, liver and kidney function improved well.
