Not only did Usain Bolt help his team finish first and win the gold medal, he was also indirectly responsible for the US relay team not winning a medal.
Due to concerns about Bolt's lightning-fast sprint, the last runner on the American side, Brommel, proactively ran ahead, causing his teammate, Tyson Gay, to be unable to pass the baton in the most reasonable and scientific way, before affecting the overall speed of the entire American relay team.
As a result, the US lost both the silver and bronze medals, leaving empty-handed in the above event. The silver medal, strangely enough, went to the Japanese team, with a time of 37 seconds 60, while the bronze medal went to the Canadian team (37 seconds 64)./.
