Prioritize choosing domestically produced drugs

Vietnam Social Security has just issued an official dispatch guiding the payment under the health insurance regime for Arginine drugs, aiming to unify the payment of costs of drugs containing Arginine under the health insurance regime.

Accordingly, for drugs containing arginine or drugs combining arginine with some vitamins and other ingredients, the Social Insurance agency will only pay for the cost of Arginine drugs as prescribed in Section I of Official Dispatch 4396/QLD (indicated to support the diagnosis of some diseases of pituitary insufficiency, slow growth due to the pituitary gland; increased blood ammonia; treatment of indigestion disorders; supportive treatment to improve exercise capacity in people with stable cardiovascular disease...).

In addition, in agreement with the Department of Health, health insurance facilities use Arginine appropriately. For cases with many drug options, it is necessary to consider using drugs with reasonable costs, suitable for the payment capacity of the health insurance fund. Priority is given to choosing domestically produced drugs, ensuring quality, drugs of pharmaceutical enterprises meeting good manufacturing practice standards.
