The contract for the sale of BrahMos missiles between Vietnam and India has been signed.
BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile using stealth technology that can be launched from surface ships, submarines, Su-30MKI aircraft or mobile launch vehicles on the ground.
The name “BrahMos” is a combination and abbreviation of the names of two rivers: Brahmaputra of India and Moscow of Russia. The joint venture to produce the BrahMos cruise missile is considered one of the most successful projects in the history of Russian-Indian defense industry cooperation.
The BrahMos cruise missile weighs 3 tons, is 8.4 meters long, has a body diameter of 0.6 meters, and is equipped with a 200-300 kg armor-piercing warhead. With a maximum speed of Mach 2.8 and a range of up to 290 km, BrahMos is considered one of the most fearsome "anti-ship killers" in the world today.
