VPF proposed a plan to organize professional football tournaments in Vietnam, in which V-League would have a match time similar to the English Premier League.

On the afternoon of June 15, in Hanoi, the 10th Executive Committee Conference of the Vietnam Football Federation, term VIII (2018-2022) took place.

At the conference, the most discussed issue was adjusting the time of organizing national championships. Accordingly, VPF proposed a plan to organize tournaments from the second half of the previous year and end the first half of the following year, like the English Premier League and European countries.

This change comes from the fact that from the end of 2023, national championships of AFC member federations will have time adjustments to optimize the competition schedule, synchronize the player transfer market between Asia and Europe, help clubs recruit quality players and coaches and pave the way for Asian players to go to the world.

It is known that VPF also proposed to VFF to recommend to the Southeast Asian Football Federation to change the schedule of the SEA Games and AFF Cup, from the end of the year to July to August, to synchronize with the direction of changing the competition schedule from the 2023-2024 season of AFC, as well as to avoid clubs having to sacrifice their forces when domestic tournaments are taking place.

To ensure the season schedule changes keep up with the AFC roadmap, it is expected that the 2023 professional season will take place from January 2023 to August 30, 2023, while the 2023-2024 season is expected to start in November 2023 and end in June 2024.

One of the important issues reported and approved at the conference was the plan to organize the Congress of the 9th term of the Vietnam Football Federation (2022-2026), in order to select a leadership apparatus suitable for Vietnamese football, aiming to successfully carry out tasks in the new period, especially the opportunity to participate in the World Cup when FIFA increases the number of teams participating in the final round from 32 teams to 48 teams from 2026.
