Vietnamese lychees are now available in the Dubai market through the assistance of the Vietnam Trade Office in the UAE.

The enterprise directly bringing lychees to Dubai this time is Phu Hung Trading and Service Joint Stock Company, a prestigious Vietnamese agricultural and vegetable export enterprise, in cooperation with the local Choithrams Supermarket System.

It is known that after a period of hard work by the Trade Office in the UAE, the Choithrams Supermarket System has agreed to arrange 2 standard stalls at its most central supermarket, where there are the largest number of regular customers, to display and introduce fresh Vietnamese lychees.

Mr. Pham Binh Dam, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UAE, said that the event of Vietnamese fresh lychees being directly introduced at Choithrams, a very large supermarket chain in Dubai, is a great advantage to get closer to consumers, thereby bringing fresh fruit products into the supermarket system in the UAE as well as other Middle Eastern countries.

This time, fresh lychees were selected by the enterprise from raw material areas that fully meet VIETGAP and GLOBALGAP standards and transported to Dubai by air to ensure quality.

Along with the launch of fresh lychee at Choithrams Supermarket System, the Vietnamese Embassy in the UAE also introduced some other famous Vietnamese fruits such as dragon fruit, rambutan, watermelon, banana, and seedless lemon.

Accordingly, Phu Hung Trading and Service Joint Stock Company and Choithrams Supermarket System have agreed to discuss specifically the list and quantity of agricultural products that this supermarket system wants to import from Vietnam in the coming time.

According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Dubai, GCC countries annually import about 6 billion USD worth of vegetables, fruits, and ornamental plants. Of which, fruits account for the largest proportion, up to 62% of the total import turnover of vegetables, tubers, and fruits.

In terms of market size in the 6 GCC markets, the UAE and Saudi Arabia are the two largest import markets for vegetables and fruits, accounting for 45% and 31% of total turnover respectively, while the remaining countries account for less than 10%.
