Notably, Nguyen Trong Dung initially won the men's 800m inflatable hose event, but his achievement was not recognized because the referees thought he had violated the rules. In addition, the remaining Vietnamese athlete, Kim Anh Kiet, was also determined to have violated the rules. Therefore, the Gold Medal was announced by the organizing committee to be awarded to the Thai athlete.
However, after reviewing the situation, the referee determined that only Kim Anh Kiet had committed the offense. Nguyen Trong Dung was still awarded the Gold Medal in the men's 800m inflatable hose event and the Thai athlete received the Silver Medal.
