An apology sign placed at a construction site on Le Hong Phong Street, Vinh City. |
As one of the main busy roads, the construction of the commercial center building on Le Hong Phong Street sometimes causes traffic jams to last longer when concrete trucks and trucks enter and exit the construction site. Realizing that their work causes inconvenience to traffic participants, the construction unit has placed a sign apologizing to the people when trucks enter and exit.
Ms. Pham Thi Phuong, a business owner located opposite the construction site, said that trucks usually arrive in the afternoon. Sometimes, it coincides with school and work hours, making the traffic jam longer. And the apology sign, although simple, makes many passersby feel more “comfortable and relieved” while waiting.

The apology sign is a more civilized way for the construction unit to behave towards traffic participants. |
Mr. Tran Diep Anh, construction supervisor on Le Hong Phong Street, shared that because the trucks entering and leaving the construction site are all large vehicles, they will certainly affect and cause discomfort to traffic participants, so the unit has put up an apology sign. Not only hoping that people sympathize with the investor, the sign also aims to help road users pay more attention and avoid possible dangers. In addition, the unit also assigned a safety officer to stand and direct traffic, especially during rush hours.
It is known that one of the first cities in Vietnam to place apology signs outside construction sites was Da Nang before spreading to other provinces and cities across the country. The apology signs and banners were placed by construction units around the construction sites and have also become familiar to many people.
However, in Vinh city, at construction sites, the units still mainly only put up warning signs "Construction in progress 5 km/h". Although it is a sign announcing a construction site, placing a sign or hanging a banner with an apology is a more civilized way for the construction unit to behave towards traffic participants.
Although apology signs at construction sites in Vinh are not yet widespread, this is an encouraging sign and should be replicated in Nghe An. For the above apology to have real value, the construction unit itself and traffic participants must also comply with the provisions of the law on traffic and labor safety.
