On the evening of February 25, Hanoi city will hold a ceremony to receive the Certificate of Recognition of 82 stone steles of the doctoral examinations of the Le-Mac Dynasty (1442-1779) at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam as a World Documentary Heritage and the Certificate of Recognition of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam as a Special National Monument.

Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Hang, Deputy Executive Director of the Center for Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, said that the welcoming ceremony was organized simply and solemnly, with the participation of leaders of the Central Government, Hanoi city and UNESCO in Vietnam.

The ceremony also recreated the Vinh Quy Bai To ceremony, a ritual often performed to honor doctors after passing the imperial examinations, along with a documentary introducing the history of the Temple of Literature and a special art program performing works related to this heritage.

On the same morning, the Center for Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam organized a seminar with the participation of scientists to re-evaluate the value of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam and the center's conservation and promotion activities after 25 years of taking over, managing and exploiting.

The Temple of Literature was built in 1070 to worship Confucius and other saints, sages, and scholars. In 1076, the Imperial Academy was established as a place of study for the children of mandarins, and later developed into the first national school in Vietnam to train learned people throughout the country.

After nearly 1,000 years, the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam is still a symbol of Vietnamese culture and intelligence, the most typical symbol of Confucian culture of Hanoi and the whole country.

After 25 years of being managed and exploited by the Center for Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, the number of visitors coming to visit and learn about the temple has increased from 300,000 to over 2 million people/year.
