Away from home for 2 hours, thief broke in and took 100 taels of gold

The homeowner was only away for about 2 hours when the thief broke in, pried open the safe and took away 100 taels of gold and nearly 700 million VND that night.

Khanh Hoa Provincial Police said they are focusing on investigating a case in which a resident reported that thieves broke in and stole nearly 700 million VND and 100 taels of gold.

On the evening of August 10, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hiep (56 years old, residing in Cam Linh ward, Cam Ranh city, Khanh Hoa) went to Cam Ranh city police to report that a thief had broken into her house, broken the safe and taken a large amount of property.

Ms. Hiep stated that after leaving home to attend a wedding that same evening, about 2 hours later, she returned to find signs of a break-in in the 2-story house. After checking, she found that all the rooms of the 2-story house had been ransacked.

The safe was broken into and all 100 taels of gold, jewelry, 500 million VND and 6,000 USD in the safe were stolen.

“It is possible that the thief had been monitoring the house and had known the homeowner's travel schedule before committing the crime,” said an investigator.

After examining the scene, Khanh Hoa Provincial Police are coordinating with Cam Ranh City Police to investigate the above bold thief.
