Vasiliy Nebenzya warns US about consequences of attack on Syria
The United States will face serious consequences in case of using force against Syria, Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzia said.
"Through appropriate channels, we have informed the US side that military action against Syria under false pretexts, where Russian troops are at the request of the legitimate government of this country, can lead to the most serious consequences," Nebenzia said at a UN Security Council meeting on the situation in Syria.

The diplomat called on Western politicians to “tone down their rhetoric” and stop reckless attempts to challenge global security. At the same time, Mr. Nebenzya noted that no one allows Western leaders to assume the role of world policeman.
The Russian permanent representative added that the United States, Britain and France are confronting Moscow, using many methods and tones that were not even present during the Cold War.
