The Chairman of VCCI said that the Vietnamese Government will ensure absolute security and safety for businesses in Vietnam.

This afternoon (May 19), the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) held a meeting with representatives of the foreign business community in Vietnam to listen to the opinions of the international business community on the recent incident (extreme actions of some individuals in Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Ha Tinh).

The meeting took place at VCCI headquarters in Hanoi.

Attending the meeting were representatives of many enterprises from Taiwan, China, Korea, Japan, EU, USA... On the Vietnamese side, in addition to the leaders of VCCI, there were also representatives of a number of ministries and branches: Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Vietnam General Confederation of Labor...

At the meeting, Mr. Vu Tien Loc, Chairman of VCCI, said that up to now, 80-90% of the disrupted enterprises have resumed normal operations, and localities and authorities have taken many measures to support and help enterprises resume normal operations. The Vietnamese Government has controlled the situation and affirmed its determination to implement all legal measures to ensure absolute security and safety for enterprises in Vietnam; resolutely not allowing acts of sabotage against foreigners in Vietnam and appropriately handling lawbreakers in recent incidents. Such unfortunate incidents will not recur. Vietnam thanks FDI enterprises for their contributions and will continue to support enterprises in the future.

Mr. Loc called on the Vietnam Business Association and international businesses to cooperate and share with the businesses that have recently suffered. According to Mr. Loc, the extreme actions of some individuals in the recent incident not only sabotaged some Chinese, Korean, Taiwanese businesses... but also sabotaged the Vietnamese economy.

Representatives of many foreign enterprises in Vietnam also expressed sympathy with Vietnam for the recent incident and hoped that such incidents would not recur. Foreign enterprises also made a number of proposals to the Vietnamese Government and authorities to support and coordinate with enterprises to overcome difficulties and losses after the recent incident.

Acknowledging the opinions from businesses, Mr. Vu Tien Loc affirmed that the recommendations of the business community will be collected by VCCI and sent to the Government. The Chairman of VCCI also thanked businesses that have invested in Vietnam and hoped that businesses would continue to invest in the future.

Mr. Vu Tien Loc once again affirmed that the Government and functional agencies, departments and branches of Vietnam are making efforts to control such a situation so that it will not happen again; and constantly improving the investment environment in Vietnam will create favorable conditions for enterprises to continue investing in Vietnam.
