In a must-win situation, the Vietnamese team entered the match with a somewhat tense mentality. That was the reason why in the first 5 minutes, the Kuwait team continuously surrounded and fired at Phuoc Anh's goal. However, the experience and bravery of a veteran goalkeeper helped Phuoc Anh stand firm, successfully blocking many shots from the Kuwait team.

With Phuoc Anh as the support, the Vietnamese team gradually regained their composure to control the match, pushing the Kuwait team back to their home field. However, the impatience in finishing caused a series of delicious opportunities to be wasted right in front of the shoes of coach Bruno Garcia Formoso's students. However, in that rather deadlocked attack, the Vietnamese team had a bit of luck and took the lead.

In the 18th minute, Trong Luan suddenly shot from the left wing towards the Kuwait team's goal. In an attempt to block, Ahmad put the ball into his own net, opening the score 1-0 for the Vietnam team.

The goal was a huge morale booster for the home team. And in an attack at the beginning of the second half, Trong Luan took advantage of Duc Hoa's pass to score diagonally, raising the score to 2-0 for the home team, creating an advantage that no one could have expected before the ball rolled.

Trailing by 2 goals, Kuwait used the power-play tactic to increase their attack power. However, coach Fonseca's players were still stuck in front of Vietnam's concentrated play. When the 2-0 victory seemed to belong to the home team, a mistake by goalkeeper Phuoc Anh in the last seconds allowed Kuwait to score a goal to reduce the score to 1-2.

Winning the match with a narrow score forced Vietnam to meet Iran in the quarterfinals.
