The 2014 AFC U19 Championship will take place in Myanmar from October 9-23 this year with the participation of 16 of the continent’s best U19 teams. At the finals, the 16 teams are divided into 4 groups, playing a round robin to select the top 2 teams from each group to enter the quarter-finals.
At the draw ceremony tonight, the groups were determined. Accordingly, U19 Vietnam is in a group that experts consider to be very tense with the participation of defending champions Korea, Japan and China.
Meanwhile, Group A includes host Myanmar, Thailand, Iran and Yemen. Group B includes Uzbekistan, Australia, UAE and Indonesia. Group D features Iraq, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Qatar and Oman.
Based on the draw results, U19 Vietnam has also determined the order of its challenges at the 2014 U19 Asian Cup Finals. Specifically, U19 Vietnam will meet U19 Korea in the opening match before competing with U19 Japan and the final match of the group stage against U19 China.
Recently, U19 Vietnam has undergone a nearly 2-month training session in Europe and will soon continue to train in Japan to gain more competition experience, aiming for the 2014 U19 Asian Cup Finals in October.
