(Baonghean) - After hundreds of years of formation and development, Quynh village, now Quynh Doi commune (Quynh Luu) is known as a "spiritual land of talented people", famous for its tradition of mandarin examinations, proud to be a Cultural Village, Heroic Commune and 1 of 2 localities chosen by the province to build a model new rural commune.

1.I came to Quynh village on a sunny day like pouring honey. Like many other villages, Quynh Doi is covered with a peaceful, quiet beauty. But from the depths of its traditional source, there are few villages whose names and clan names evoke such strong admiration for cultural and scholarly traditions. Mr. Ho Dac Thang, a cultural officer of the commune, took me to visit the National Historical - Cultural Relic of the Temple of God. The villagers still tell each other the story that, right in front of the current temple location, there used to be a place called Bui Cut, the previous temple was built there to worship the Angel Moc Loi Linh Ung in 1803. However, in 1845, the temple burned down and the villagers rebuilt it at its current location. Since then, the Temple of God has been the place where the people of the clans in Quynh village worship the Angel Moc Loi Linh Ung and four elders: Ho Kha, Ho Hong, Nguyen Thac and Hoang Khanh. These are the ancestors who have contributed to the establishment of the village with the name Tho Doi, which is Quynh Doi commune today.

Going back in history, since its inception, the clans have absorbed cultural quintessence from everywhere to build the unique culture of Quynh village. Today, Quynh villagers still recite to each other a couple of verses: "The capital weaves brocade and embroiders flowers/ Quynh Doi has three generations of top scholars" to remind the descendants to preserve and promote the village's tradition of studiousness, which has been nurtured, built and become the motto of each family and clan.

Therefore, during the feudal period, Quynh village had thousands of people who passed their studies and made great contributions to the country in many fields, including names such as Ho Sy Duong, Pham Dinh Toai, Queen of Nom poetry Ho Xuan Huong... Quynh Luu is also the hometown of revolutionary patriot Ho Tung Mau, hero Cu Chinh Lan... Continuing the tradition of their ancestors, Quynh Doi affirmed its position as a land of learning, many children of the village held high positions in the Party, State and worked in the fields of scientific research, journalism, literature and arts... thereby making great contributions to the construction and development of the country in today's era.

With these traditional features, Quynh Doi has been recognized as a “Cultural Village” and the Party and State have awarded the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces”. This is also the foundation for generations of Quynh Doi people today to continue to build their homeland to become increasingly prosperous and strong, worthy of the stature of a long-standing cultural village.

2Indeed, coming to Quynh Doi, I felt the new vitality of a village that had just successfully built a new rural area in 2014, as the commune leaders discussed, 1 year earlier than planned. To achieve these results, Quynh Doi has had a shift in economic structure in the right direction, the annual economic growth rate reached 7 - 8%, craft villages and villages with crafts were built, thereby increasing the income of the people, reaching an average of 28 million VND/person in 2014. The rate of well-off and rich households increased, the rate of poor households decreased to 2.6%.

The movement of the whole people to build a cultural life has been promoted, 8/8 villages have maintained the title of cultural village for many years. The total investment cost for the construction of the new rural area is over 200 billion VND. "The higher-level budget supports 40 billion VND, the capital is integrated with the programs of over 70 billion VND, the rest is contributed by the people, donated land, and contributed labor to build the project of over 70 billion VND. In addition, the children of the homeland from all over the country have contributed over 20 billion VND. "If the people did not wholeheartedly support, the children did not wholeheartedly turn to their homeland, Quynh Doi would not have reached the finish line so soon", Mr. Nguyen Van Cong, Vice Chairman of Quynh Doi commune, excitedly talked about mobilizing resources among the people to build the new rural area.

In village 4, home to 192 households with 604 people. In addition to farming, the villagers also make incense and rattan products, so their lives are increasingly prosperous. According to village chief Nguyen Ba Hung, there are only 3 poor households left in the village. Mr. Hung excitedly took me around the village to "witness" what he said were the changes after the successful construction of the new rural area. Indeed, in village 4 now, the roads are wide and almost 100% concreted, and recently the people have also contributed to make more covers for the ditches. "In addition to the support from the State, the villagers have contributed 960 thousand VND/person to build roads. Now, seeing the village look much more spacious, everyone is excited," said Mr. Hung. Not only in village 4 but in every village in Quynh village that I have been to, there have been fundamental changes in the rural infrastructure.

Along with many investments in production development and rural infrastructure construction, the unique cultural features of Quynh Doi are increasingly restored, preserved and promoted to new heights. I met Mr. Ho Quang Thang, the 17th generation descendant of the Ho family, who directly takes care of the Temple of the Gods and is also the one who knows the history of the village well. He enthusiastically introduced the historical sites in the area and confided with an unconcealed pride: “Quynh Doi has 9 historical sites, including 8 national sites, accounting for half of the sites in Quynh Luu district. This is a great source of pride for every Quynh Doi resident. In addition, many cultural features of Quynh village have been restored in recent years. Since 2012, after 60 years of being lost, the commune has restored and organized the Ky Phuc Festival on the occasion of the first month of the lunar year. In 2015, the village has organized this festival for the second time. This is a cultural beauty of Quynh Doi people from ancient times, expressing the gratitude of the villagers to the merits of the ancestors who founded the village, protected the country and protected the people”.

3 Each region and place has its own cultural beauty, but in Quynh village, that culture is very special. Because the value of the land and people here does not only exist within the framework of a purely agricultural village but has spread, integrated and made great contributions to the history of the Vietnamese nation. And generations of Quynh villagers today continue to preserve and promote the cultural and historical values ​​of the village with a very respectful attitude. That is also the beauty, the source that flows forever, creating the uniqueness of Quynh Doi today.

That is why, after successfully building the NTM program, Quynh Doi was selected by the People's Committee of Nghe An province as one of two communes in the whole province to build a model new rural commune in the period of 2015 - 2020. Mr. Nguyen Van Cong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Doi commune said. "This is truly an honor and pride for the Party Committee and people of Quynh Doi. Currently, we are actively developing a project to start building, soon bringing the locality to successfully implement the model new rural commune".

Building a model new rural area is both a responsibility and an opportunity for Quynh Doi to truly rise up to the stature of a civilized countryside. From there, good cultural values ​​will be promoted and spread further in society; historical relics such as: Historical - Cultural Relic of Ho family temple, Historical - Cultural Relic of Ho Tung Mau temple and tomb... are also becoming attractive destinations in cultural, historical and spiritual tours on the journey of tourists to Quynh land according to the tourism development orientation of the district...
