The main content of the meeting between Mr. Miura and the leaders of VFF and representatives of the National Teams Department was to discuss the 2015 plan of the National Team, especially the U22 team participating in the U23 Asia qualifying round in March 2015 (in this tournament, Vietnam is in Group I with opponents U23 Japan, U23 Malaysia, U23 Macau - China) and the U23 team participating in the 28th SEA Games in June 2015 in Singapore.
Mr. Mai Duc Chung, Head of VFF National Teams Department, said: “In this meeting, we mainly discussed the operational plan of the U22 and U23 teams next year. We currently do not have any personnel, we have to find them. The U19 national tournament has not been played yet, and we will have to look for new players in the V-League.
In addition, some players who participated in the 17th ASIAD and are still of age to participate in the SEA Games will also be retained. We have provided the entire list of capable and age-eligible players to Coach Miura so that he can decide on his own personnel selection."
After discussion, VFF leaders and coach Toshiy Miura initially agreed on the direction of building the national team in the coming time, in which priority is given to using young players with development potential, creating conditions for young players to have the opportunity to compete in official international matches to accumulate experience.
With the goal of building a stable and strong national team for the 28th SEA Games in 2017 and the AFF Cup in 2018 with the goal of reaching the top of Southeast Asia, VFF leaders and Mr. Miura determined not to focus on immediate achievements but to focus on building a stable team, capable of competing for achievements in a number of years. Coach Miura is responsible for building a plan for the national teams to achieve the above goals.
Since the national team will not have any important international tournaments in 2015, the U23 team will receive special attention. In addition to the 28th SEA Games taking place in June in Singapore, in March, the U22 national team with a 2-in-1 force consisting of players who competed successfully in the 17th ASIAD and the 2014 AFF Cup such as Hong Quan, Ngoc Hai, Huy Toan, Thanh Hien, Hoang Thinh, Huy Hung and talented U19 players such as Cong Phuong, Xuan Truong, Tuan Anh, Dong Trieu, Van Toan... will participate in the qualifying round of the U23 Asian Cup held in Malaysia.
According to the plan, the Vietnam U23 team will gather on May 22 to prepare for the 28th SEA Games taking place in June 2015. Meanwhile, the Vietnam U22 team will gather on February 22, 2015 to participate in the qualifying round of the 2015 Asian U23 tournament.
It is worth noting that in the working session yesterday morning, the results of the national team's competition at the AFF Cup 2014 were not discussed. In the next few days, before returning to Japan to celebrate Christmas and New Year, Coach Miura will send to the VFF leadership a detailed report on the training process as well as the national team's competition in the recent tournament. On that basis, the two sides will learn from experience so that the AFF Cup in 2016 can achieve higher results.
