For a brighter future
(Baonghean) - In recent years, the movement to promote learning and talent in Hung Nguyen has developed strongly. The percentage of studious families, studious clans, and learning-promoting communities is increasing, contributing to the formation of a learning society...
Arriving in Hung My just as the commune was holding its 2012 Conference to Commend Studious Families, Studious Clans, and Communities Promoting Education, banners and slogans adorned the village streets and alleys; loudspeakers broadcast stories of exemplary students from all over the village; and every household was filled with joy. One such family was that of Mrs. Ngo Thi Hanh (Hamlet 1, Hung My), whose husband died early, who herself suffers from chronic illness, whose son is disabled, and whose economic situation is extremely difficult. Wanting her son to have a bright future, to escape hardship and poverty, she worked tirelessly and saved to provide him with an education. Her son was an excellent student for 12 consecutive years, passed the provincial-level excellent student competition, and is currently a student at Vinh University. Another example is Ms. Ngo Thi Xuan, who single-handedly collected scrap metal to support her children's university education. Ms. Ngo Thi Hoi, despite her disability, overcame difficulties to support her child's university education in Hanoi... Mr. Ngo Thanh Phi - Head of the Education Promotion Association of Hamlet 1, Hung My, happily stated: “The economic conditions of the people in the hamlet are still difficult, but no matter how poor we are, we will not let our children drop out of school. In recent years, 100% of students attend school regularly, with no students dropping out midway. During the 2012 “Education Promotion Month” awards ceremony, the hamlet awarded gifts to 79 outstanding students at all levels, including 2 outstanding students at the provincial level and 6 outstanding students at the district level. The hamlet was honored as a model education promotion community at the commune level and attended the district-level awards conference...”. In particular, despite the difficult living conditions, the work of promoting education and talent is actively supported by the people in the hamlet. On average, each family contributes 20,000 VND to the hamlet's education promotion fund each year, with some even volunteering to contribute 50-100,000 VND; The village's annual scholarship fund is estimated at around 3-4 million VND. This fund is used to reward outstanding students, provide gifts to poor students, and encourage families to overcome difficulties in raising their children for education (currently, 25 students from the village are attending university).

The Merubeni Education Foundation presents gifts to outstanding teachers and underprivileged students who excel academically in Hung Nguyen district.
Leaving Hamlet 1, Hung My, we visited the Ho family in Hung Thinh. We were welcomed into the ancestral hall, still smelling of fresh lime. On the walls, besides the horizontal plaques and couplets, the most prominent feature was the family's golden plaque promoting education. Mr. Ho Trong Hieu, the head of the Ho family clan and head of the family's education promotion committee, introduced the family with pride: "Building on the scholarly tradition of the Ho family (Quynh Doi - Quynh Luu), the family's education promotion movement is very vibrant. Our descendants have achieved high academic success; currently, the family has 1 PhD, 5 Master's degrees, 19 university graduates, and 2 college graduates; on average, each household has 1.5 children studying at university. In the 2011-2012 school year, out of 14 children studying in high school, 13 achieved excellent student status at various levels, accounting for 92%... Our highly successful descendants are inscribed on the scholarly list of the Ho family's distinguished figures in Vietnam; those who have been admitted to university or college are honored with a golden plaque of honor, made of red silk with gold lettering, proudly displayed in the family's ancestral hall." Outstanding students at all levels, in addition to receiving awards, are also given the opportunity to report their achievements to their ancestors at the Ho family ancestral temple in Quynh Luu. The Ho family (Hung Thinh) was recognized as a model family for its studiousness in Hung Nguyen district for the third time (2010-2012).
Meanwhile, the Dang family (in Hung Linh commune) recognizes books as an inexhaustible source of knowledge to improve the education of their descendants. The family's education promotion committee has established a library. Currently, the library houses thousands of books of various types: textbooks, reference books, newspapers, magazines, etc., and is regularly open to serve the children of the family, allowing poor children to borrow textbooks for their studies. Thanks to this, the descendants of the family have all excelled in their studies.
During the period 2007-2012, Hung Nguyen district had 14,765 families dedicated to education, 514 clans dedicated to education, and 194 communities promoting education. From 2009 to the present, the district has had 25 national-level outstanding students, 235 provincial-level outstanding students, 1,835 district-level outstanding students, and nearly 3,000 students admitted to universities and colleges. Mr. Nguyen Canh Cu, Chairman of the District Education Promotion Association, stated: These achievements are thanks to the role of the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front, and the members of the Association's Executive Committee who have implemented many initiatives and solutions to strengthen the Association's activities. Every year, the various levels of the Association for the Promotion of Learning and the Family-based Learning Promotion Committees organize awards for teachers and students: the first round at the beginning of the new school year for students achieving excellent grades from the district level upwards; the second round during the Lunar New Year for students admitted to universities, colleges, and vocational schools; and the third round on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20th) for teachers and educational administrators who have achieved advanced worker status or higher, with a total award amount reaching hundreds of millions of VND per year. Fundraising for the Association is carried out on a voluntary basis with many flexible and effective methods. In addition, localities throughout the district also launch movements to build studious families and studious clans, and organize conferences to implement the three criteria for building studious families and the two criteria for outstanding studious families in all branches.
