Video of a human-faced spider hiding in a potato scares thousands of viewers
A clip of a terrifying spider crawling around the sprouts of a potato in a house in southern China has gone viral.
People Daily posted a clip of a small green spider with a human-like face painted on the back, with the face 'complete with eyes, nose, smiling mouth, eyebrows and even what looks like... a strand of hair'.
The video has received tens of thousands of views on Twitter and has spread rapidly to other social media platforms. It is known that the author of the clip is a woman named Li, who is also the owner of the house in Yuangjiang, a city in China's Hunan province - where the scary spider was discovered.

The clip has attracted users, one of whom compared the face to Norwegian artist Edvard Munch's famous painting 'The Scream', with others warning that it could be Spider-Man's nemesis Venom, or joking that it's an alien.
Another user explained that the spider looks like a harmless “thomisid,” known as ebrechtella tricuspidata, a species of crab spider that lives across large parts of Asia, Russia, the Caucasus, Turkey, and Europe, and often lives in grasslands and forest edges in search of prey.
