(Baonghean.vn) - Voters of Nam Cat commune (Nam Dan district) proposed not to collect water fees for the Lam Tra canal to reduce difficulties for farmers in the commune, because this canal has existed for decades.

The relevant authorities responded to this issue as follows:

Lam Tra Canal is 11.3 km long and is managed by Nam Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd. To have water supply to Lam Tra Canal for irrigation and daily life of people in communes of Hung Nguyen and Nam Dan districts, Nam Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd. must regulate water from Lam River through Nam Dan Sluice. Every year, the Company has to dredge and upgrade Lam Tra Canal to ensure water supply for production.

The collection of source generation fees on Lam Tra canal is implemented according to the provisions of Article 1, Decree 67/2012/ND-CP of the Government on amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 143/2003/ND-CP dated November 28, 2003 (detailing the implementation of a number of articles of the Ordinance on exploitation and protection of irrigation works), with the collection rate equal to 40% x 1,003,000 VND/ha.

Thus, the voters' proposal not to collect water fees for the Lam Tra Canal is not in accordance with state regulations./.
