"Young brick"

(Baonghean) -Yesterday I went to the hospital to visit a friend who is a head of an agency. I have something interesting to discuss with him.

- It's normal in life, but I don't listen to secret or sensitive matters. Hearing them makes my brain tired and doesn't solve anything.
- Don't worry, it's a very normal story. While sitting on the hospital bed talking to me, he pointed to the hospital fence wall that was peeling off, with several loose bricks and mortar, and said: "I'm like that loose brick that the masons chose wrongly."

- What does he mean?

- You will understand slowly. That friend is not a person who has received formal training but is a "movement-grown" person. Limited qualifications, average ability, but good-natured, smiling warmly at everyone. In meetings, he rarely speaks. Whoever is right, he smiles in agreement and encouragement. Whoever is wrong, he also smiles in sympathy. Therefore, in elections, he always gets high votes and reaches his current position. Unfortunately...

- The official career is so smooth, what else is there to worry about?

- He died in that success. When he held the responsibility of leading the unit, there were things he had to decide in writing or with clear statements, he could no longer smile instead of speaking like before, so gradually revealed the shortcomings and inadequacies in his qualifications and abilities. After a few times like that, his superiors began to remind him and his subordinates were skeptical about his decisions. Knowing that, he tried hard to learn to fill in the gaps, but it was only partially successful. The pressure of work increased, combined with the psychological stress, he fell ill.

- I understand why your friend said that. He realized that he was an “immature brick” that did not have the maturity and strength needed to shoulder the responsibility. But what he said was “wrongly chosen” is not correct. An inanimate brick cannot know whether it is mature or immature, while a conscious person must know clearly whether he is good or bad. The problem is having enough courage to realize that he is still weak and refuse the burden that is too much.

- You're right. If we can do that, not only will we avoid suffering, but we will also avoid putting the entire organization in an awkward situation.
