National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology inspects Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign in Que Phong
(Baonghean.vn) - Implementing Decision No. 4218/QD-BYT dated October 16, 2014 of the Ministry of Health on the establishment of 5 inspection teams to direct the Measles - Rubella vaccination campaign, on October 26 and 27, Inspection Team No. 2 led by Professor, Dr. Nguyen Tran Hien - Director of the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology conducted inspections in Thong Thu and Tien Phong communes of Que Phong district. Through field inspections in Thong Thu and Tien Phong communes, it was found that these two communes had established a steering committee, conducted a survey of the number of children in the right age group, made plans, received and stored vaccines properly, trained staff directly performing vaccinations, and organized screening for children before vaccination. In Thong Thu commune, the delegation directly visited a number of households with vaccinated children to check their health status as well as post-vaccination certificates. According to the report of the Que Phong District Health Center, as of October 27, 14/14 communes in the district had implemented the first phase of vaccination with 4,776/5,223 children from 1 to 5 years old vaccinated, reaching a rate of 95%. Working with the Steering Committee of the Measles - Rubella vaccination campaign of Que Phong district, on behalf of the inspection team, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tran Hien - Director of the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology acknowledged and highly appreciated the results achieved in the preparation and implementation of Measles - Rubella vaccination for children of Que Phong district, and at the same time requested the Steering Committee of the district to summarize the experience of the first phase to continue implementing the vaccination campaign for children from 6 to 14 years old. In parallel with the vaccination activities, the district needs to promote communication activities about the benefits of vaccination and pay special attention to safety in vaccination. At the same time, it is requested that the Nghe An Department of Health should issue a document directing districts that have not yet implemented the first phase of vaccination to combine all 3 phases to implement in a rolling manner to shorten the campaign implementation time as well as to achieve the highest results, reducing inconvenience for people.

According to statistics from the provincial Center for Preventive Medicine, by October 27, 14 out of 21 districts and towns had implemented Measles-Rubella vaccination for children from 1 to 5 years old and were preparing to implement the 2nd and 3rd vaccinations.
