Overseas Vietnamese in Thailand and Laos journey back to their roots, visit President Ho Chi Minh's homeland
(Baonghean) -At 4:00 p.m. on August 25, 2011, in Vinh city, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee of Nghe An province - Central Propaganda Department - Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam organized an intimate meeting with the overseas Vietnamese delegation in Thailand and Laos on their journey to visit Uncle Ho's homeland.
Attending the meeting were comrade Bui The Duc - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, representative of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam; on the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; To Hong Hai - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The overseas Vietnamese delegation in Thailand had 40 people, led by Ms. Vu Thi Tin, the overseas Vietnamese delegation in Laos had 20 people, led by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tinh.

At the meeting, overseas Vietnamese listened to comrade Ho Duc Phoc announce some basic features of Nghe An province in terms of economy, culture, society, investment attraction mechanism and development orientation of the province in the coming years. Overseas Vietnamese also expressed many thanks for the warm welcome of the Vietnamese Government and Nghe An province. The wish of overseas Vietnamese in Laos is to try to build a Vietnamese language cultural school in each province in Laos, and to request Nghe An province and the Vietnamese Government that after overseas Vietnamese children graduate from Lao cultural schools, they can go to Vietnam for university education, so that overseas Vietnamese children can continue to maintain and promote the national cultural identity, understand Vietnamese customs and practices, and the Vietnamese language in Laos. It is requested that the Vietnamese Government have policies for overseas Vietnamese children to return to Vietnam for education.
Mr. Vimay Phinxalì - Chairman of the People's Committee of Xieng Phin Town (Udon Thami Province, Thailand - where the Uncle Ho Relic Site in Nong On Village is managed), said: "We are very proud to be the locality with the Uncle Ho Relic Site, so we always keep in mind that the friendship and solidarity between the two countries was built by President Ho Chi Minh, so we need to preserve and maintain the relic site better and better."
Comrade Bui The Duc - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department thanked overseas Vietnamese for their many activities towards their roots, showing their patriotism. He also accepted the recommendations and wishes of overseas Vietnamese and will submit them to the Government. He also informed about some of the country's economic development situation, the policies of our Party and State towards overseas Vietnamese.
