Playing at My Dinh Stadium, with the cheers of home fans, the Vietnamese team was unable to win against the visiting team Uzbekistan, a team with a large physique.

Việt Nam đã nhận thất bại ngay trên sân nhà
Vietnam was defeated right at home.

Before the match, fans had high expectations for a victory for coach Nguyen Van Sy and his team. In fact, with the players at hand, the strategist from Nam Dinh and his students could completely do what the home fans wanted. However, facing the away team with a large physique and good physical strength, the Vietnamese team could not find a way to get past goalkeeper Suyunov despite organizing many attacking moves. On the contrary, the players in red shirts also let the team from West Asia score 3 goals with quick counter-attacks.

Returning to the main developments of the match, playing at home gave the Vietnamese team great motivation and the necessary excitement to be able to play on par with the away team, which was considered to be better. However, in the first 40 minutes of the match, the defenses of both teams played very solidly, effectively and limited the chances for the strikers to shoot. Therefore, during that time, the home team only had 1 shot, while the away team had 2.

Thi đấu rất nỗ lực, song Việt Nam vẫn để thua ngay trên sân nhà
Despite playing with great effort, Vietnam still lost right at home.

The turning point of the match came at exactly the 40th minute, in a not really dangerous situation, goalkeeper Tan Truong fumbled the ball out of reach, right to the feet of striker Shodiev, and the task of the player wearing the "number 15" shirt was too easy to put the ball into the empty net. The two teams temporarily left the field with a temporary 1-0 victory in favor of the away team Uzbekistan.

Entering the second half, while the fans at My Dinh Stadium had not yet settled down, the away team from West Asia unexpectedly scored a goal to raise the score to 2-0 after a quick counter-attack and a very tricky and technical header from the tall striker Igor. Conceding another goal early, the Vietnamese team raised their formation to look for a goal. However, facing Uzbekistan's tight defense, the red-shirted players could not score, but instead faced many dangerous situations towards goalkeeper Tan Truong's goal. In the 90th minute, while the Vietnamese team had pushed all the way to the opponent's field, the Uzbekistan players unexpectedly had a "counterattack" and neatly scored. Defender Khasimov was the one who sealed the 3-0 victory for the away team.

The 3-0 defeat at home for the Vietnam national team also came at a heavy price when defender Van Nhien suffered a serious injury and had to leave the field at the beginning of the second half. In the final minutes of the match, captain Le Tan Tai received a red card and had to leave the field after a malicious tackle on an opposing player.
