Vietnam produces heat-resistant paint for rocket engines
The General Department of Defense Industry has researched and perfected the technology for manufacturing heat-resistant paint, used for low-altitude air defense missile engines and jet bullets.

The process of testing, manufacturing, and repairing weapons and military equipment, especially low-altitude air defense missile engines and jet ammunition in defense factories requires a large amount of heat-resistant and insulating paint.
In order to meet the demand for use and limit imports, the Institute of Technology was assigned by the Ministry of National Defense to preside over the project "Research on manufacturing technology, heat-resistant coating technology, and heat insulation inside the engine shell of low-altitude air defense missiles and jet bullets".
The technology can be applied to industrial scale production. Heat-resistant paint products have technical specifications such as color, smoothness, content of non-volatile substances, viscosity, drying time of the film, adhesion, hardness, heat resistance of the paint film, impact resistance, and flexural strength all meet the requirements.
The heat-resistant paint product was painted on real bullets and tested by firing. The firing results and dynamic parameters (pressure variation over burning time and engine operating time) were all within the allowable error range. The results of measuring the temperature outside the engine casing of the test paint sample and the imported paint sample were similar, showing that the heat insulation capacity of the test paint met the requirements.
The Science and Technology Advisory Council evaluated the results of the Ministry of National Defense-level scientific project and said that the research was of good quality.
However, the research still has some limitations such as the limited number of paint components; the coating technology process on real bullets has not been studied, but only on sample bullets.
