On October 22, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Petroleum of Kuwait HE Mustafa Al-Shemali, who is on a working visit to our country.
Welcoming HE Mustafa Al-Shemali to visit Vietnam and attend the groundbreaking ceremony of the Nghi Son oil refinery and petrochemical complex project, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung emphasized that Vietnam always considers Kuwait as one of its important economic partners and wishes to further promote this relationship, especially in the oil and gas sector.

Expressing his gratitude to the State of Kuwait for its support to the people of the Central region who suffered heavy losses due to recent natural disasters, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also thanked the State of Kuwait for helping Vietnam borrow capital for rural infrastructure investment projects through the Kuwait Development Fund. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung highly appreciated the role of the Kuwaiti Government in promoting the construction of the Nghi Son oil refinery, especially Kuwait's commitment to providing crude oil for the entire life of the project to form the Nghi Son oil refinery and petrochemical complex.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung asked the Kuwaiti Government to continue to direct and support the Nghi Son Oil Refinery and Petrochemical Joint Venture Company to implement the project on schedule and put it into operation soon, contributing to the development of each country and the friendship between Vietnam and Kuwait.
Thanking the Prime Minister for taking the time to meet him, HE Mustafa Al - Shemali expressed his pleasure in coming to Vietnam to attend the groundbreaking ceremony of Nghi Son oil refinery and petrochemical project, a 3-party joint venture between Kuwait, Japan and Vietnam.
HE Mustafa Al - Shemali said that Vietnam - Kuwait still has a lot of potential for cooperation, wishing to strongly promote cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of energy, industry, oil and gas; at the same time, affirming to create all conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest in Kuwait.
HE Mustafa Al - Shemali said that the State of Kuwait has just decided to send 3 million USD to support people affected by storm No. 11 in the Central provinces recently, and is ready to support Vietnam in training human resources for the oil and gas industry./.
