Vietnam holds a national day of mourning in memory of Fidel Castro
Vietnam's leaders have decided to hold a national day of mourning for former Cuban President Fidel Castro on December 4.

Vietnam decided to hold a mourning day for former Cuban President Fidel Castro on December 4.Expressing condolences and gratitude to him, and based on the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, the Ministry of Foreign AffairsTodayspecial communique said.
On this national day of mourning,Agencies and offices nationwide and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad must fly flags at half-mast and wear mourning bands as prescribed, and must not organize public entertainment activities.
December 4 is the day Cuba holds a funeral for former President Castro at the city cemetery.Santiago de Cuba.
According to this announcement, Mr. Fidel Castrois a great friend, comrade, and extremely close and intimate brother of the Party, State and people of Vietnam. Over the past half century, since the success of the Cuban Revolution, and then Cuba and Vietnam established diplomatic relations on December 2, 1960, Mr. Castro, together with President Ho Chi Minh and many generations of leaders and people of the two countries, has cultivated and developed the relationship of brotherly solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and mutual trust between the Parties, States and people of the two countries.
Former President Castro made three official visits to Vietnam in September 1973, December 1995 and February 2003. He was the first foreign leader to visit the newly liberated area in Quang Tri province in September 1973 and was also the leading head of state in the international movement to support the Vietnamese people's just struggle for national independence and reunification in the past, as well as in the cause of reconstruction, construction and protection of the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland today.
For his great contributions and achievements, Mr. Castro was awarded the Gold Star Order by the Party and State of Vietnam in 1982 and the Ho Chi Minh Order in 1989.
Internationally, Mr. Castro is an outstanding state activist and leader in the International Communist and Workers' Movement, making great and positive contributions to the Movement for national liberation, against imperialism and oppression, against racism, for peace and justice in the world for over 50 years. Mr. Castro has been admired, honored and awarded noble prizes by many countries, especially those in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
Former Cuban President Castro passed away on the night of November 25 in the capital Havana at the age of 90.National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan will lead a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the funeral of the former Cuban leader.from 28 to 30/11.
