Vietnam won the Fair-play award of AFF Cup 2014

Despite losing in the semi-finals, coach Toshiya Miura and his team, and perhaps all Vietnamese fans, won the AFF Cup's secondary prize.

After the second leg of the final, where Thailand won the AFF Cup for the fourth time, the tournament's secondary awards were announced. The Vietnamese team won the Fair-play award.

This award is usually given to teams with beautiful playing style, few fouls, noble play and partly the image of home fans. At AFF Cup 2014, Vietnam team was highly appreciated for its dedicated attacking style of play. The image of Vietnamese audience behaving friendly with Malaysian fans in the return match also received many compliments from friends in the region.

Striker Chanathip Songkrasin, who is known as the "Thai Messi", received the Best Player award. This result was worthy of his performance throughout the tournament. Chanathip was the one who scored the goal to reduce the score to 2-3 in the second leg of the final, a very beautiful goal. The "Thai Messi" scored two goals and assisted two goals in seven matches.

Malaysia midfielder Safid Rahim was named top scorer. He scored six goals in seven games, including four from the penalty spot.

The Thai champions received a bonus of 200,000 USD (more than 4 billion VND). According to the Bangkok Post, the country's federation will award Kiatisuk's team an additional 25 million baht (16 billion VND).
