Vietnam faces the problem of mercury in the air
On September 10, the workshop "Asia-Pacific Mercury Monitoring Network" was organized by the General Department of Environment in coordination with the US Environmental Protection Agency, the US National Atmospheric Deposition Program, and the Taiwan Environmental Protection Agency.
According to statistics from the General Department of Environment: Currently, Vietnam is facing the problem of mercury in the air, not only from domestic pollution sources, but also from transboundary pollution sources. These problems are causing difficulties in monitoring and controlling mercury pollution.
“With participation in the Minamata Convention and the Asia-Pacific mercury monitoring testing network, Vietnam will have more tools to control mercury pollution in the air in the future,” affirmed Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Bui Cach Tuyen.
