Vietnam wins third prize at international youth pop music competition

According to the Russian news agency ITAR-TASS, young Vietnamese singer Khuat Duy Vinh, currently living in Germany, has won the third prize worth 20,000 euros at the 12th International Young Pop Competition "New Wave - 2013," which concluded on July 28 in the city of Yurmala, Latvia.

Taking place over five days in the beautiful resort town of Yurmala, the International Young Pop Competition "New Wave - 2013" honored Cuban singer Roberto Kel Torres with the First Prize worth 50,000 euros and Georgian singer Saloma Katamadze with the Second Prize worth 30,000 euros. The Audience Sympathy Award was given to young Russian singer Arsenyi Borodin.

Musician Igor Krutoi, one of the founders of the contest, said that this year's contest attracted the largest number of contestants in the past 12 years, with 16 young singers from 12 countries around the world.
