On June 24, in response to a reporter's question asking for Vietnam's reaction to recent information in the Chinese press about China continuing to build and put into use a number of facilities in the Truong Sa archipelago, including a hospital on Da Chu Thap and a farm on Da Subi, as well as information that the China Ocean Shipping Corporation (COSCO) plans to organize tourist routes to the Hoang Sa archipelago, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Hai Binh affirmed:
Vietnam has repeatedly expressed its clear and consistent stance on this issue. Vietnam has indisputable sovereignty over the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos. China’s illegal construction and use of structures on reefs and shoals in the Truong Sa archipelago or its organization of tourist routes to the Hoang Sa archipelago are serious violations of Vietnam’s sovereignty. Such illegal actions cannot change the fact of Vietnam’s sovereignty over these two archipelagos.
Vietnam resolutely opposes and demands that China respect Vietnam's sovereignty, immediately stop the above-mentioned wrongful activities and not let similar actions repeat; seriously comply with the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and make practical contributions to maintaining peace and stability in the East Sea.”./.
