Vietnam-Laos promote science and technology cooperation
At the invitation of the Lao Ministry of Science and Technology, a delegation of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology led by Professor Chau Van Minh, member of the Party Central Committee and President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, visited and worked in Laos from May 21-25.
On the morning of May 21, the Delegation held talks with the Delegation of the Lao Ministry of Science and Technology led by Academician, Professor, Minister Boviengkham Vongdala.

The two sides evaluated the results of implementing scientific and technological cooperation activities between the two institutes; discussed and agreed on the possibility of cooperation in areas of mutual interest in the coming period such as enhancing research capacity, implementing science and technology to help Laos; building a master plan for socio-economic development for some provinces of Laos as well as cooperation in research, mitigation, prevention of natural disasters, climate change, rational use of natural resources, etc.
The two sides also discussed biotechnology, information technology, environmental technology, space technology, material corrosion in tropical climate conditions and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on scientific cooperation, emphasizing the promotion of joint research projects of interest to both sides, co-organizing training courses, conferences, seminars, and symposiums; exchanging experts, scientists, and researchers.
In addition, the two sides also exchanged information, publications and scientific documents; management experience; supported each other in the fields of human resource development; capacity building, improvement of science and technology infrastructure as well as many other activities of mutual interest, practically celebrating major holidays in 2012 - the Year of Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship, Laos-Vietnam, contributing to fostering the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos to develop more sustainably./.
