Vietnam is ranked 14th in the list of 53 best countries for foreigners, according to a survey by the Internations network.

Recently, according to the survey results of Internations - a global expat network with more than 4 million members, Vietnam ranked 14th in the list of 53 best countries for foreigners. This result is 7 places lower than in 2022.

The survey was conducted with 12,000 people from 171 countries and territories. The top five countries and territories in the 2023 list are Mexico, Spain, Panama, Malaysia and Taiwan (China). Meanwhile, the bottom five names are Germany, South Korea, Turkey, Norway and Kuwait.

Internations conducted a survey based on 56 factors that affect a person's life abroad such as cost of living, quality of living environment, job opportunities, technology...

The ranking is surveyed and published by Internationals.

In the rankings, many foreigners rated Vietnam as easy to settle in factors such as: "culture and welcome" (ranked 16th); "finding friends" (ranked 11th) and "hospitality of local people" (ranked 5th). Internations said that more than 4/5 (82%) of foreigners rated Vietnamese people as friendly and hospitable while this index globally is only about 67%. They feel satisfied when being welcomed in Vietnam.

Vietnam is considered a livable place with affordable prices. In the "personal finance" index, Vietnam is the country that leads the list. This index is based on three factors, including: satisfaction with the financial situation, general living expenses, and whether the income of the survey participants is enough to live comfortably. 77% of respondents rated the cost of living as favorable, while the global average is 44%.

Vietnam is highly rated in the "safety and security" index in Asia. We rank 34th globally in this index but in Asia we are only behind Taiwan (China), UAE, Singapore, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, South Korea, Japan, and Saudi Arabia.

However, Vietnam is assessed to have poor environmental quality. About 55% of foreigners living in Vietnam feel uncomfortable with air quality, three times higher than the general rate in the world. In addition, foreigners also rate poor satisfaction with online administrative services and cashless payments in Vietnam. They have difficulty in applying for visas to move to Vietnam to live. The Vietnamese language is also an obstacle for foreigners. "In fact, no foreigner living in Vietnam can confirm that he can speak this language well, while this index is 34% globally," the report stated.

In the Internations report, Mexico tops the list and this is the 9th year in the top 5. The country is highly rated in the index of "ease of settling in" and "friendliness of local people". 75% of expats surveyed said they easily make friends with locals. The global prevalence rate is 43%.
