On the final day of competition, the athletes only competed in 7 events, the Vietnamese team only won one more gold medal from Le Ba Trang (170cm classic). With impressive achievements in the first two days, Vietnam ranked first overall. Second place was Thailand, third place belonged to India.
Before that, with the gold medal at home, athlete Pham Van Mach made a record of 8 Asian championships, surpassing the 7 championships of senior athlete Ly Duc. This was expected when Pham Van Mach still had a beautiful body and impressive performances. It seemed that he still had no opponent in the men's 55kg weight class. Hopefully, Nguyen Van Lam would also maintain his form and excellently defeat other opponents to win the gold medal in the men's 65kg weight class. In addition, Vietnamese athletes also won in other events: Nguyen Anh Thong (60kg men), Nguyen Van My (60kg young men), Pham Duc Dai (70kg young men), Tran Thi Cam Tu (fitness women up to 155 cm in height), Trinh Phi Hung (fitness men age group 55 - 60), Nguyen Kim Hung (fitness men, height up to 160 cm) and Truong Quoc Long (fitness men, height up to 165 cm).
The most regrettable loss was probably that of female bodybuilder Nguyen Thi My Linh (49kg women's category), who was once a world champion. Experts as well as the Vietnamese coaching staff all admitted that Doungkum of Thailand was too strong, this is an athlete who has won the Asian and world championships many times. Although My Linh performed well in her competition, she could not defeat her opponent. Meanwhile, the other hope of female bodybuilding, Kim Loan (49kg category), could not create a surprise, when she only won a silver medal.
