The Chinese State Council recently approved the "National Marine Main Functional Area Planning", which includes both Vietnam's Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.
Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh today stressed that Vietnam has repeatedly affirmed its indisputable sovereignty over the two archipelagos.
Any activities of foreign parties in this area without Vietnam's consent violate international law, infringe upon Vietnam's sovereignty and are worthless.
"Vietnam resolutely opposes China's above-mentioned actions and demands that China respect Vietnam's sovereignty, immediately abolish such wrongful actions, and make practical contributions to the development of friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam and China, as well as maintaining peace and stability in the East Sea," Mr. Binh stated./.
