On October 1, in response to a reporter's question asking for Vietnam's reaction to the article by a direct advisor to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen in the Cambodian newspaper Tia Sang with some content distorting history and inciting territorial border issues, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang stated:

"Vietnam strongly condemns the extreme and hostile arguments of opportunists who are deliberately distorting history, inciting and causing division in the friendly neighborly relationship, solidarity and cooperation between the two peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia."
