Vietnam has a wide open door to host ASIAD 2019
Vietnam has entered the final round of this race alongside rivals from the United Arab Emirates (UAE),Indonesia and Taiwan (China).
The homepage of the Southeast Asian Games Council (OCA) quoted Mr. Husain Al-Musallam, OCA CEO at the meeting of the OCA Media Commission, saying that there are 4 countries and territories that have entered the final round of the race to host the 2019 ASIAN Games (ASIAD).
After the 2010 ASIAD in Guangzhou (China) ended, the race to host the 2019 ASIAD was launched and initially 7 countries and territories expressed interest. Up to now, 3 other candidates are Hong Kong,
Main venue for ASIAD in Vietnam
On the Vietnamese side, sports leaders are very hopeful to be selected by the OCA, because Vietnam has twice hosted major sporting events: the 22nd SEA Games in 2003 and the 3rd Asian Indoor Games in 2009. Of which, the 22nd SEA Games is an event that has resonated both domestically and internationally, recognizing Vietnam's organizational level.
However, compared to the two above mentioned Games, ASIAD is much larger in scale with the participation of 43 Asian countries, requiring a large infrastructure system and a large team of organizing staff.
