Vietnamese anti-aircraft artillery fires live ammunition. |
According to public information, the M96D flying target was produced by Factory A40 to serve mainly for live-fire exercises for artillery and air defense missile forces.
The target aircraft is an unmanned aerial vehicle (remotely controlled or autonomous) used in live-fire training activities of missile and anti-aircraft artillery forces. This vehicle helps artillery and missile units train in more realistic combat.
The first M96 (day) and M96D (night) drones were completed by Vietnam in 1999. These two drone models were designed based on the Israeli DF-16 aircraft complex purchased by the Air Force.
After a testing period, the M-96 and M-96D were allowed by the military to be mass produced to serve live-fire training of artillery and missile units.
These flying targets are supported by TZK optical sights, are controlled manually and fly within the range of the naked eye. Up to now, the Air Defense - Air Force Service has produced thousands of M96/96Ds to serve the air defense artillery troops in live-fire training.
In the recent live-fire training of the anti-aircraft artillery site of Regiment 228 (Division 365), M96 UAVs were also used.
As soon as the company commander, platoon commander, and battery commander's orders were given, loud and decisive, on the artillery platform, the gunners coordinated closely with each other in searching, capturing, and following the target, waiting for orders, determined to destroy the target.
