Vietnam is about to produce electric hybrid cars.

Russian news agency Ita-tass reported that car manufacturer Yo Auto is preparing to sign a cooperation agreement with a partner in Vietnam to build a factory to produce the Yo Mobile hybrid electric car line.

Accordingly, in early 2013, Yo Auto will join with a Vietnamese partner to establish a joint venture to build a Yo Mobile electric hybrid car factory with a capacity of 100,000 units/year. This plan was scheduled to be signed in May 2012, but encountered problems so it had to be postponed until early next year.

Mr. Andrei Biryukov - CEO of Yo Auto - confirmed to Russian media that the Vietnamese government has agreed to provide capital to build a factory to produce electric hybrid cars for Yo Mobile and the Vietnamese side will pay royalties for car manufacturing.

In addition, the CEO of Yo Auto is also very confident in the success of this project when he said that Yo Mobile cars produced in Vietnam will be distributed to the Southeast Asian market. Along with that is the ambition to increase production to 1 million cars within 5 years. Yo Auto is a joint venture between truck manufacturer Yarovit Motors and onexim Group of Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov. The Yo Mobile product produced by this unit is causing a stir in the Russian market with more than 47,000 orders as of mid-May 2012, even though the company only launched the car at the beginning of this year.


In Russia, Yo Mobile currently has 3 options including hatchback (5 doors), van and coupe produced at the factory with a capacity of 45,000 cars/year in St. Petersburg with prices ranging from 12,000 to 15,000 USD.
